I was kindly commissioned to create a Four Seasons mosaic using the Roman Cirencester Four Seasons mosaic (in the Corninium Museum) as a source for my inspiration.
Here with have the Roman Goddess Pomona wearing a circlet of grapes and leaves on her head. She has a pruning knife over her right shoulder ready for the harvest. A leopard-skin cloak is fastened at her left shoulder connecting her with the God Bacchus.
Flora has a wreath of flowers and a flowering stem over her right shoulder. A bird heralds the beginning of spring.
Each mosaic measures 40 cm square and will feature in a private home.
