NHS Hull hospital mosaic installed

Wow what a brilliant day yesterday! After a very blustery 12 hour shift the NHS Hull mosaics, sculptures and ceramics are now safely installed in the gardens of the secure male psychiatric unit.

A huge thank you to the staff, especially Vicky the Arts Co-ordinantor for her input and colleagues Lee Steele (ceramicist) and Saffron Waghorn (stone mason) plus Sarah Fisher from Artlink and not least of all national Mind who funded the work through the EcoMinds project.

The work has resulted in a large labyrinth floor mosaic, a carved sundial surrounded by geometric mosaic panels and a carved seated area with ceramic tiles embedded in the ground. The whole area will be planted up at a later date. We all had great fun working with the clients and staff who informed the design and created the pieces.

Looking forward to tomorrow’s full day mosaic workshop at the Dutch House in Crayke, North Yorkshire where we will be making indoor plaques. If you would like to book a workshop further information can be found on my website www.mosaicart.org.uk or email me via sue.kershaw@hotmail.co.uk.
